We’re looking for a Category Manager who wants to do more than manage products. We’re looking for someone who enjoys building strategies, solving merchandising puzzles, negotiating with vendors, and creating compelling promotions that drive customers into the aisles.
What You’ll Own
You’ll have responsibility for key hardlines categories including electrical, plumbing, paint sundries, fasteners, builders’ hardware, and related home improvement products.
- Build category strategies that grow sales, margins, and inventory productivity.
- Develop promotional calendars and advertising programs that create customer excitement.
- Negotiate with national brands and wholesale vendor partners.
- Identify and execute special-buy opportunities that deliver outstanding value to customers.
- Analyze sales trends, margins, inventory, and competitive activity to make informed merchandising decisions.
- Partner closely with inventory management, marketing, and store operations to ensure flawless execution.
What You Bring
- 3-7 years of category management, buying, merchandising, procurement, vendor management, or retail operations experience.
- Strong understanding of hardware categories, customer shopping behavior, seasonal demand, and retail execution.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze sales, margin, inventory, and vendor performance data to drive profitable business decisions.
- Proven vendor negotiation skills and the ability to build productive supplier partnerships.
- Experience with pricing strategy, promotional planning, planogram management, product transitions, and inventory lifecycle management.
- Knowledge of electrical and/or plumbing product categories.
- Industry knowledge is a plus
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, reporting tools, and familiar utilizing AI.
